How to Apply

The Research Prize scheme is administered by the Governing Body on the advice of its Scientific Advisory Committee. The awards are competitive and will be made annually following the assessment of research proposals submitted by the applicants.

Applications are now closed for the 2012 Research Prizes.  Applications forms will be available in July 2012 for the 2013 Prizes.

Applications are now welcome from the Republic of Ireland

(ii) One original application form and eleven copies should be posted 'Recorded Delivery' via Royal Mail and returned by Friday 2 December 2011 in an envelope marked "Prizes" in the top left-hand corner. A copy of the research proposal, application form and short CV must also be emailed to the Institute in PDF format. Applicants whose proposal is to be long-listed for further review will be required to submit additional copies of their proposal.

(iii) Applications must include a supportive statement from the Head of Department and Finance Officer of the Institution where the work is to be carried out confirming that accommodation and facilities are available, that the research is appropriate and that the candidate is, or will be, employed by the Institution for the first three years of the award.

(iv) Application forms must contain the names and addresses of two referees, at least one of whom must be employed in a different institution to the applicant. Accompanying the application form is a referee form; one copy is to be sent to each of the named referees immediately for completion and return directly to the Administrator of the Institute. Additional referees will also be consulted by the Institute.

(v) Short-listed candidates will be interviewed in London on Wednesday 16 May 2012 and notified of the decision a few days later.
