Madan Babu joins St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

We are very pleased to report that Lister Fellow Madan Babu has joined the faculty of St. Jude in the Structural Biology Department as endowed chair in Biological Data Science and director of the Centre of Excellence for Data-Driven Discovery.

St. Jude Children’s Hospital is one of the world’s leading research institutions in the field of children’s medical research.

Madan Babu leads the Regulatory Genomics and Systems Biology programme at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, UK. He was named Life Sciences Laureate at the inaugural 2018 Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists in the United Kingdom and received the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB) Innovator Award in 2018.

He won the EMBO Gold Medal in 2019 and in 2018 discovered that cells can selectively regulate protein synthesis to cope with stress.

Professor Babu is also leading the development of an innovative and extensive atlas of non-covalent bonds in proteins, called the Protein Contacts Atlas.
