Kate Law – A new Director for the Institute

Kate Law initially trained as a nurse, specialising in intensive care.  She then completed a science degree and took up a research post at UCL focusing on clinical trials in patients with lung cancer.

After spells working overseas, Kate joined Cancer Research UK in 1993.  Her roles at the Charity have included setting up the first committee to fund clinical trials (more than 250 cancer trials are now funded) and clinical programmes, setting up the first patient helpline and writing patient information for the website.

In her most recent position as Director of Clinical and Population Research at Cancer Research UK Kate’s responsibilities included driving the strategic direction of the Charity with respect to clinical research and control of a multi-million pound budget.  She also represented the Charity on key national and international committees and working groups and acted as a media spokesperson for the Charity.

Kate is very excited about her new role with The Lister and is looking forward to meeting with and learning about everyone involved in the Organisation!

Kate will be joining the Institute in July as Director-designate and will formally take over from Dr Trevor Hince sometime after September.  Her email address is: kate.law@lister-institute.org.uk
